HOYT LAKES, Minn. -- It was a game the Thunder Bay North Stars would probably rather forget.
The Minnesota Iron Rangers scored eight unanswered goals to break an early tie, paving the way for a commanding 9-1 victory over the North Stars on Friday night.
Evan Erickson led the charge for Minnesota, notching a goal and two assists. Gus Karkinen scored twice as a total of eight Iron Rangers found the back of the net.
Minnesota (16-10-4) scored three goals in each period to complete the onslaught.
Affiliated player Johnny Parrott scored the lone Thunder Bay goal, which briefly tied the game 1-1 in the first period.
The North Stars head to Fort Frances to take on the first place Lakers on Saturday night.
