It appears Kenora’s Mike Richards has been placed on waivers by the Los Angeles Kings.
Richards, who turns 30 next month, has just five goals and 10 assists in 47 games for the defending Stanley Cup champions.
Sportsnet’s Elliott Friedman was the first to report the development.
A Los Angeles radio station reports the Kings have been trying to deal Richards, but the latest attempt fell through on Sunday.
Richards has five years and $22.5 million remaining on his deal with the NHL team.
NHL teams have until noon on Tuesday to claim the two-time Stanley Cup winner and Olympic gold medalist off waivers. He’ll cost a team picking him up a $5.75-million cap hit should they claim him.
