The following information has been provided by the Ontario Provincial Police
(RED LAKE, ON) – On March 4, 2015, members of the OPP Community Drug Action Team, in partnership with the Dryden Police Service, the OPP Drug Enforcement Unit, OPP Emergency Response Team and the OPP Red Lake Crime Unit simultaneously executed two search warrants in relation to a Controlled Drug and Substances investigation.
During the execution of the warrants, police seized the following items:
Cocaine with a street value of over $5000
Over $10,000 in currency
Prohibited weapons – Brass knuckles and spring assisted knife
Small amounts of Marijuana and Percocet Pills
Evidence of Drug Trafficking
As a result of this investigation and items located, four people are facing criminal charges:
1) Darren JANZEN (38 years), of Red Lake, is facing charges of:
Possession for the purposes of Trafficking a Schedule 1 Substance (Cocaine) contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
Possession For The Purposes of Trafficking a Schedule 1 Substance (Oxycodone), contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
Production of Schedule 1 Substance (Cocaine) contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
Possession of Proceeds of Crime Over $5000, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.
JANZEN has been remanded into custody for a bail hearing on March 6, 2015
2) Jolene FERRIS (25 years), of Red Lake, is facing charges of:
Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Schedule 1 Substance (Cocaine) contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Schedule 1 Substance (Oxycodone) contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
Production of a Schedule 1 Substance (Cocaine) contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
Possession of Proceeds of Crime Over $5000, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
FERRIS has been remanded into custody for a bail hearing on March 6, 2015
3) Dillon LAWSON (22 years), of Red Lake, is facing charges of:
Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Schedule 1 Substance (Cocaine), contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
Possession of Marijuana Under 30 Grams, contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
Possession of a Prohibited Weapon (X2), contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
Possession of Proceeds of Crime, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
LAWSON has been remanded into custody for a bail hearing on March 6, 2015
4) Jesse LAWSON (24 years), of Red Lake, is facing charges of:
Possession of Marijuana Under 30 Grams, contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
Possession of a Prohibited Weapon (X2), contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
LAWSON has been released on a Promise to Appear with a court date of April 22, 2015
