Jeremy Adduono is the Superior International Junior Hockey League coach of the year.

The North Stars bench boss learned on Thursday he’d been chosen for the award, edging out Fort France Lakers coach Wayne Strachan, a four-time winner, and Kurt Walsten of the Dryden Ice Dogs.

Adduono, a former seventh-round pick of the Buffalo Sabres (1994), is just the second North Star to take home the award.
Todd Howarth won the trophy four times.

Adduono led Thunder Bay to a fourth-place finish, winning 27 times in 56 contests.
