COLD LAKE, Alta. – The Thunder Bay Northern Hawks came up just short of a medal at the Western Canadian Junior B Hockey Championships.
The Northern Hawks were edged 5-4 by the Saskatoon Quakers in the bronze medal game at the Keystone Cup on Sunday at the Cold Lake Energy Centre.
Joe Bristow scored the winner for Saskatoon at 12:36 of the third period, beating Northern Hawks netminder Justin Oltsher.
The two teams were tied 3-3 after the opening 20 minutes and then deadlocked 4-4 heading into the final period.
Nick Dygun, Alex Vaillant, Taylor Santorelli and Cary Brown scored for Thunder Bay.
