Three local police officers heading to World Police and Fire Games

Three Thunder Bay Police Officers are heading to The World Police & Fire Games being held in Fairfax County, Virginia. They will compete in a few of the 60+ events being held between June 26 and July 5, 2015. These games are expected to attract 12,000 participants from 70 countries.

The athletes competing in these Games will be available to the local media for a photo opportunity and interviews on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Balmoral Police Station.

Competitors are:

Andrea McInnis - Andrea is a Constable with the Thunder Bay Police Service currently assigned to Uniform Patrol. She has earned the title and gold medal for the "Toughest Female Competitor Alive" at the 2014 and 2012 Can-Am Police-Fire Games. She was also a gold medalist for power lifting in 2012 and Olympic lifting in 2014. She will be competing in the CrossFit event on June 28 / 29, 2015 that will consist of a variety of weight lighting, powerlifting, strongman, gymnastics, running and rowing elements.

Londyn Bilbrough - Londyn is a Constable with the TBPS and is a member of the Emergency Task Unit. Londyn won a gold and bronze medal at the 2014 Can-Am Police-Fire Games in Police Action Pistol. He will be competing in biathlon on June 27th, Pistol Combat on June 29th and Police Action Pistol on July 3, 2015.

Joe Dampier - Joe is a Sergeant with the Thunder Bay Police Service assigned to Uniform Patrol. He is a three time silver medalist in the past two World Police & Fire Games. He will be competing in Field Archery on July 1 & 2 and 3D Archery on July 3, 2015.

The Thunder Bay Police Services Board and Chief JP Levesque are very supportive of the officers competing in these games. They are sure that they will be great ambassadors to promote the 2016 Can-Am Police-Fire Games to be held in Thunder Bay next summer.

Back ground Information:

In 1985, the World Police & Fire Games Federation, a non-profit organization, run by the Californian Police Athletics Federation, established the World Police & Fire Games. Today, the World Police & Fire Games are a spectacular international sporting event, offering police officers, firefighters, customs and correction officers from around the world an opportunity to showcase their athletic excellence in over 65 sporting events.

Held biennially, the World Police & Fire Games will be held in Fairfax County, Virginia, USA in 2015, Montreal, Canada in 2017 and Chengdu, China in 2019. The size and scope of the games continues to grow, with both the attendance and number of participating countries steadily increasing.
