The Lakehead Thunderwolves have landed five-year Ontario Hockey League veteran forward Billy Jenkins.
The OUA team on Monday announced Jenkins, who scored 15 goals and added 41 assists for the Niagara Falls Ice Dogs last season, has committed to play his university hockey in Thunder Bay.
Jenkins also had 11 points in 11 playoff games with Niagara Falls this past spring.
"I was very impressed with what they have going on up there and I became a big fan of the city on my recruiting visit,” Jenkins said in a release issued by the Thunderwolves.
“I'm really happy with my decision to join the program and can't wait to get things started."
Lakehead coach Bill McDonald said the 20-year-old, who scored 20 goals in 53 games with Kingston in 2012-13, will be a good fit with the Wolves.
“I like Billy’s versatility in that he can play on either wing or at centre, and he’s also a great person both on and off the ice,” McDonald said.
“He’s a smart player with a high hockey I.Q. Whenever I saw him play, he always seemed to be in the right place, and his point production last year proved that. And his playoff production last showed his competitive edge.”
