Walter Keating Jr. has a two-shot lead heading into Sunday’s second and final round of the Keg District Open.

The former Canadian Tour pro is hoping to hang on for the win, which would be his fourth, automatically earning  a berth in the second annual Staal Foundation Open later this month.

Keating Jr., who played in last year’s inaugural event, fired a three-under 69 on Saturday at Fort William Country Club, two shots better than Robbie Untinen.

Brett Shewchuk is three shots further back in third, while Rollie Turrie and Tony Stokaluk shot identical three-over 75s to tie for fourth after Day 1.

Round 2 will be contested Sunday at Whitewater Golf Course.
