Garick Gray is officially a Lakehead Thunderwolves hockey player.

The 6-foot-1 forward, a native of The Pas, Man., will join the team this fall, fresh from  a RBC Cup-winning season with the Portage Terriers, where he scored 19 goals and 46 points in 60 games for the Manitoba Junior Hockey League club.

Gray, who spent two seasons with the OCN Blizzard, played the 2013-14 season with the Fargo Force of the United States Hockey League.

“I feel like I’m ready to take the next step in my career and hope to play a major role in the future success of the team.  I've heard nothing but great things about the hockey program, the university and the community, and I’m looking forward to being a part of it all,” he said in a release issued on Wednesday by the team.

Wolves Head Coach Bill McDonald likes what Gray brings to the table.

“After watching him play and talking to his previous coaches, I think Garick will be a good addition and I'm happy to have him join our program,” McDonald said in the release.

“He has size, skating ability and a knack for scoring goals.  He also doesn't mind getting into the dirty areas on the ice.”
