If you started Churchill running Paul Bystrican in your senior high school fantasy football league, odds are you’re going to win your week.

You’re a virtual lock if you doubled down with Trojans quarterback Tallon Morris.

Bystrican was a one-man wrecking crew on Friday afternoon, rushing for 292 yards and two scores, while Morris was 15-for-26 through air for 167 yards and three touchdowns to lead Churchill (3-0)to victory in the battle of unbeaten teams, a 41-14 triumph over the St. Patrick Saints (2-1).

It was the game of a lifetime, Brystrican said.

“I’ve had maybe 150 yards before, so that’s the most so far in my whole football career,” the soft-spoken back said after the win.
“The blocking from the o-line was good all the backs and receivers helped out a lot.”

Bystrican, not big by football standards, is tough to stop, said Churchill coach Mike Doromko, his team continuing its undefeated run.
“The best part about Paul is you can’t see him. You can’t see him coming out of the backfield. All of our big boys up front just completely shade him and all of a sudden he appears and you have to make a play on him,” Doromko said.

“There’s no way you can grab him like that.”

It was a special day, he added.

“It was a beauty. They played us for the pass. They had a lot of guys back in coverage and if we have the numbers inside, we’re going to run the ball,” Doromko said.

It was the Saints who started the scoring, Kellen Steudle prancing into the end zone on a 50-yard run two minutes into the contest.

But the Trojans took over from there.

Morris connected with Eric Warren on a 25-yard scoring pass to tie the game 7-7, then, after Musa Aledresse put Churchill in front on a 28-yard field goal, Bystrican rumbled home from 83 yards out to extend the Trojans lead to 10.

Morris found Scott Lawson open on a 19-yard scoring play before time ran out in the opening half.

Bystrican scored again from three yards out to start the third, but the Saints didn’t quit, taking advantage of a Aledresse’s muffed punt.

St. Patrick quarterback Tyler Mathieu fired a 27-yard pass to Austin Pegoraro and the Saints trailed by 17, 31-14.

Morris put it out of reach in the fourth, finding an open Warren in the end zone from the St. Patrick one-yard line, the final touchdown of the game, played at Fort William Stadium.

Westgate 36, Hammarskjold 28: Darian Fuchs rushed for 204 yards and four scores to lead the Tigers to the win, who beat the Vikings despite a 217-yard, four-touchdown performance from Hammarskjold quarterback Zach Hynna. Two of the scores went to Derek Pucci.

St. Ignatius 59, Superior Collegiate 13: Thomas Walser scored three times, once on a 48-yard run and twice more through the air, catching passes from Bryce Covello as the Falcons remained unbeaten at 3-0. The Gryphons fell to 0-3. Troy Kundrat had two receptions for 62 yards and score for Superior Collegiate, while Justin Kundrat scored on a three-yard run for their other major.
