It took them a dozen games, but the Lakehead Thunderwolves hockey squad has finally found the win column.

The Wolves rode a four unanswered, third-period goals on Saturday night to an upset 5-2 road win over the Windsor Lancers, LU’s first victory of 2015-16 that put to rest the team’s longest winless streak from the start of a season.

Dylan Butler, Cody Alcock, Jake Ringuette and Sam Schutt each scored in the decisive final stanza, helping Lakehead improve to 1-10-1 with a pair of Fort William Gardens dates against the University of Toronto  looming large next weekend.

E.J. Faust had the Wolves other marker, opening the scoring on the power play at 11:37 mark of the first.

Tyson Ness and Mike Christou replied for Windsor to put the Lancers in front 7:22 into the second.

Devin Green made 42 stops for the win, the loss going to Blake Richard.

Butler finished with a career best goal and two assists.
