Three SIJHL players invited to attend Canada West Selection Camp

THUNDER BAY, Ont. – Hockey Canada, in partnership with the Canadian Junior Hockey League, announced Wednesday Team Canada West’s selection camp roster for the upcoming event, which will be held Dec. 5-8 in Leduc, Alta.

Among the 60 hopefuls chosen to attend the four-day event are three players from the Superior International Junior League.

Dryden GM Ice Dogs goaltender Taylor Unruh as well as defenceman Troy Williams along and forward Carter Chorney of the Fort Frances Lakers were selected to attend.

Also English River head coach and general manager Derek Sweet-Coulter has been invited to participate as a guest coach at the Canada West selection camp.

Of the players invited to the selection camp, 22 will be named to the Canada West roster that will compete in the World Junior A Challenge Dec. 13-19 in Cobourg and Whitby, Ont.

“The entire SIJHL would like to congratulate our players and coach that have been chosen take part at this high-level event,” stated league commissioner Bryan Graham.

“It will be a true challenge to go up against the elite prospects from the five western-based leagues of the CJHL and we wish those from the SIJHL the best of luck and to savour the experience,” added Graham.
