WBB: Badgers pull away in second, trounce Thunderwolves at home

ST. CATHARINES -- Another second-quarter collapse helped pave the way for the Lakehead Thunderwolves second straight loss at the hands of the Brock Badgers.

ST. CATHARINES -- Another second-quarter collapse helped pave the way for the Lakehead Thunderwolves second straight loss at the hands of the Brock Badgers.

The Badgers outscored the visiting Wolves 20-8 in the second and went on to a 72-50 win against their division rival in the final OUA  women’s basketball game for both teams before the Christmas break.

Kira Cornelissen led the way for Brock, scoring 16 points and eight rebounds. Kate Harpur and Kayla Santilli had a dozen apiece for the victors.

Rachel Webber was the lone Thunderwolves player to hit double figures, scoring 10 points. Gillian Lavoie and Katelyn Andrea posted eight each in a losing cause. Andrea also grabbed nine boards for Lakehead (3-5).

Brock (5-1) took a half-game lead over Guelph and McMaster in the OUA Central.
