FORT FRANCES – Thunder Bay North Stars netminder Riley Corbin stopped all 30 shots he faced while his teammates scored three times on the power play to help them shutout the Fort Frances Lakers 3-0 Saturday in Superior International Junior Hockey League action at Ice for Kids Arena.

After a scoreless opening 20 minutes, Thunder Bay struck three times with the man advantage in the middle session to supply the margin of victory.

Nicholas Nigro notched the eventual game-winner on the power play at 4:09 of the second and he then set-up Brad Arabia for another extra man effort at the nine-minute mark of the stanza.

The North Stars Kenny Turner then added some insurance at 13:14 as the North Stars improved to 2-0 with last season’s SIJHL coach of the year Jeremy Adduono back behind the bench as head coach.

The shutout for Corbin was his second of the campaign.

Brandon Bodnar made 27 stops in a losing cause for the league-leading Lakers who were blanked for the first time this season.
