The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced Sunday that SIJHL game No. 104 played on Friday, Feb. 5, between the Dryden GM Ice Dogs and Thunder Bay North Stars, has been forfeited by Dryden due to the use of an ineligible player.
The GM Ice Dogs had originally won the contest, 5-4 in a shootout, but now forfeit those two points after dressing two 15-year-old affiliate players, which was in violation of Hockey Canada Development Model regulation F. 53 c) v) where no more than one 15-year-old A.P. is allowed to dress and compete in a Jr. A game.
Dryden forfeits the points they earned from the game under Hockey Canada regulation O.3, which in turn will now be credited as a 1-0 victory for the North Stars.
The statistics for players on both sides from this contest will count however.
The SIJHL received complete cooperation from GM Ice Dogs on this issue and it was deemed the use of the additional player by the team was strictly inadvertent.
