Lakers’ Robertson & Minerva named CJHL Central all-stars

THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Canadian Junior Hockey League announced Wednesday that Dylan Robertson and Nick Minerva have been named to the CJHL Central all-star team for their efforts during the course of the 2015-16 season.

THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Canadian Junior Hockey League announced Wednesday that Dylan Robertson and Nick Minerva have been named to the CJHL Central all-star team for their efforts during the course of the 2015-16 season.

The honourees were chosen from the Superior International Junior Hockey League (SIJHL), Northern Ontario Hockey League (NOJHL) and Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL) and were selected from the nominees submitted for the CJHL National Awards, including Most Valuable Player, Top Forward, Top Defenseman and Top Goaltender.

Robertson, who hails from Atlanta, Ga., was instrumental in aiding the Lakers’ efforts as they captured their third consecutive Bill Salonen Cup SIJHL championship.

In regular season play Fort Frances captain led all SIJHL skaters in offensive numbers with 88 points in 53 games on 31 goals and 57 assists.

His success helped him garner league top defensive forward laurels while also being named a CCM Hockey first team all-star as well the SIJHL’s Amyotte’s Awards & Promotions most valuable player.

Robertson continued his stellar play in the postseason topping all players in scoring with 17 points in 10 outings, including a league-best 10 tallies.

His performance earned him the Gongshow Gear playoff MVP award.

Minerva meanwhile also had a remarkable campaign for Fort Frances.

The 20-year-old native of New Brunswick, N.J., was the runaway leader in offensive production among all league defencemen with 73 points, which was also the second highest total among all SIJHL skaters.

In 52 games played, Minerva scored 21 times and doled out 52 assists for the league-leading Lakers helping lead them to their third consecutive regular season title. His assist total was second highest in the SIJHL.

His nine power play goals tied him for the most among SIJHL D-men.

Minerva was previously named the SIJHL’s top defenceman award recipient and was a SIJHL CCM Hockey first team all-star on defence.
