The Thunder Bay North Stars may not know who their coach is just yet, but they do know how to win.

The Stars kicked off the 2012-13 Superior International Junior Hockey League season in winning fashion on Friday, getting a pair of goals apiece from returning veteran Matt Kaarela and newcomer Kris Kellaway en route to a 6-1 win over the recently renamed Minnesota Iron Rangers.

Alexander Vaillant and Trevor Hynnes picked up the other North Stars goals.

Elsewhere, Dryden scored four times in the second period to pound out a 6-3 win over the Duluth Clydesdales, getting a pair of goals from Cole Sonstebo along the way.

And in Sioux Lookout, the defending league champion Minnesota Wilderness, transplanted from Wisconsin, trashed the host Sioux Lookout Flyers 7-1.

Mike Dietrich scored three times for the Wilderness, who got three assists from Peter Barrel.
