Wolves women fall to Winnipeg

By Leith Dunick, tbnewswatch.com

Nobody’s perfect.

Rookie Jessica de Haan had 11 points Sunday, but the Lakehead Thunderwolves dropped their finale at the Shoot for the Cure women’s basketball tournament in Winnipeg.

Ashley Randall and Katie Ulakovic had 10 points apiece in the 70-55 loss to the Winnipeg Wesmen.

Winnipeg’s Alyssa Grant led all scorers with 16 points, adding eight rebounds.

"We played a very tough Winnipeg team well for 30 minutes. It was a back-and-forth affair, but Winnipeg had control for most of it,” LU coach Jon Kreiner said in a release.

“We got down 11 and battled to twp points (53-51), but we just couldn't get anything going late. We had opportunities, missed a lot of shots and lay ups, I think we could have finished a little better.”

It was their only loss in three tournament games.
