Katelyn Andrea scored a quarter of Lakehead’s points Saturday evening.
Unfortunately she only managed 12.
Playing their penultimate pre-season contest, the Wolves were throttled 81-48 by the Regina Cougars at the Shoot for the Cure tournament in Winnipeg.
Regina’s Nicole Clark led all scorers with 18.
Lakehead coach Jon Kreiner did his best to find the positives in the loss.
"At times we played with Regina and I was happy with some of our execution but Regina is so consistent at what they do and have so much experience that they can really wear you down and make you look pretty bad at times,” said Kreiner, whose team fell to 4-4 in non-conference play.
“I was very happy with the development of some of our rookies, particularly Katelyn Andrea who played a very strong game and played with confidence. We need to improve our transition defence and get ready for another early morning game against Manitoba."
Lakehead wraps up non-conference action on Sunday against the Manitoba Bisons.
