The Churchill Trojans split a pair of decisions Monday to open the provincial high school boys AA  basketball championship.

In the opener the Trojans led by three at the half, but wilted in the second half and fell 71-56. Mohammed Syed led the way with 18 points.

Syed was at it again in Game 2, scoring 24 as Churchill rebounded to defeat Peterborouh’s Holy Cross School 73-70.

The Trojans take on Ascension of Our Lord on Tuesday.
