The Thunder Bay Queens have come up short in their quest for midget AA provincial gold.

The Sportop midget AA Queens dropped their semifinal contest 2-1 against the Stoney Creek Sabres at the Ontario Women's Hockey Association championships in Buckingham Sunday morning, relegating them to the bronze medal match.

Thunder Bay took to the ice for the semifinal mere hours after outlasting the Oakville Hornets in a contest that was not decided until the fourth overtime, when Bronwyn Bolduc finally ended the contest.

The Queens will take on the Whitby Wolves in the bronze medal game later in the afternoon. Stoney Creek and the Sudbury Ice Wolves will battle for gold.
