The youngest Staal brother is back in the Carolina Hurricanes fold.
The NHL team on Thursday announced it has agreed to a one-year, two-way deal with Jared Staal for 2014-15.
Staal, whose older brothers Eric and Jordan are mainstays in the Hurricanes lineup, will get $550,000 if he sticks in the NHL or $65,000 in the American Hockey League.
The 23-year-old played 50 games last season for the AHL’s Carolina Checkers, scoring two goals and five assists. He’s got 25 points in 169 career AHL games.
A second-round pick of the Phoenix Coyotes, Staal played two games with the Hurricanes at the end of 2012-13.
