The Graphic Designer will work closely with all stakeholders, and our Marketing and communication team, to develop visually engaging materials to convey our message, values, and mission. The Graphic Designer will create visual text and imagery, designing creative content for online campaigns, print ads, websites, photos, and even videos. They will capture the attention of those who see them and communicate the right message, with the goal being to inspire and attract the target audience. The Graphic Designer will develop visual storytelling to engage, inform, and inspire our internal and external stakeholders including community members.
➡️ Diploma/degree in graphics designing, web design, IT, marketing, business, or related field with 3 or more years of experience.
➡️ Proven experience as a Graphic Designer with a portfolio showcasing diverse design projects.
➡️ Knowledge of Indigenous culture, traditions, ceremony and connecting Community Members to cultural practices that can be used as support.
➡️ Study design briefs and determine requirements, conceptualize visuals based on requirements, prepare rough drafts and present ideas, amend designs after feedback.
➡️ Develop illustrations, logos and other designs using software, along with experience in formatting reports, briefs, presentations, etc.
➡️ Knowledge and experience using Adobe Creative Suite with high emphasis on Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop. Best practices and other applications that may be required.
➡️ Experience creating digital and broadcast media for television, web browsers, social media platforms, and Test graphics across various media.
➡️ Strong understanding and ability to follow through typography, color theory, branding, layout principles, and visual composition.
➡️ Work alongside multiple portfolios and/or project teams copywriters, leadership to produce final design.
➡️ Manage multiple design projects simultaneously and ensure that all deadlines are met.
➡️ Present design concepts to the team and stakeholders and incorporate feedback for finalization.
➡️ Capacity to solve problems and to see different perspectives.
➡️ Ability to plan, organize and manage time effectively in a fast-paced organization.
➡️ Highly motivated individual with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
➡️ Excellent organizational and communication skills and an ability to follow through on assigned duties independently with strict deadlines.
➡️ Team player, with the confidence to take the lead and guide other stakeholders, when necessary.
➡️ Reliable vehicle, appropriate vehicle insurance coverage and valid Ontario “G” class driver’s license.
➡️ Current, valid vulnerable sector criminal records check.
➡️ Cellular phone and internet access are required within this position.
➡️ Must be willing and able to work flexible working from home arrangement if required. This may include a combination of virtual remote work in your home and in office arrangements. This will be based on operational needs and will be determined by the ONWA.
➡️ Ability to speak an Indigenous Language is considered an asset.
