BIO - Soapboxer is four-piece alternative band from Thunder Bay, Ontario made up of Peter Luft (guitar / vocals), Jhustin Czajkowski (guitar), Justin Rob (drums), Noah Connor (bass)

Sound-wise, they're shooting for a combination of fast, catchy drums and bass, with dreamy, relaxed guitars and vocals. It's mostly about trying to be both serene and upbeat at the same time. It's working out pretty okay. The band has been drawing musical inspiration from a number of genres, including shoegaze, emo and dream-pop. Nods to The Cure, Turnover and The National can all be found in the songwriting here. There's more to life than being punk. You don't have to be angry all the time.

Soapboxer got its start in Justin's basement over the summer of 2014, following the demise of Peter and Justin's previous band. It was just Peter and Justin writing some songs in the basement, until they drafted Jhustin Czajkowski on guitar and Clinton Baverstock on bass. Things were starting to take shape.

About a year in, Soapboxer underwent a bit of a stylistic shift, moving away from punk rock overtones towards something more subdued and ambient. Following this genre shift, they started identifying more with shoegaze and dream-pop, rather than punk rock. It was just a lot easier to be relaxed all the time.

In September 2017, Soapboxer released their album "Lush", marking their transition into dream-pop and indie. With Noah Connor joining the roster on bass, they have been playing a series of shows in support of the new album, and having a few laughs along the way. Life is good.

Jhustin is moving out of town to pursue a career in education, Peter is moving to southern Ontario to pursue a career in software development, while Justin is working in accounting in Thunder Bay and Noah is continuing his education at Lakehead University. Noah has plans to continue his solo project ‘Houseboat’, while Peter has plans to record and produce material for both Soapboxer and other projects in Kingston.

Join the boys for one last show as we wish them farewell and good luck on their new adventures!
