FORT FRANCES, Ont. — A Fort Frances homeowner received a surprise on the weekend when he went outside and found a Boa Constrictor in the yard.

Ontario Provincial Police say the reptile, over 2.1 metres long, turned up outside a west-end Fort Frances residence on Saturday afternoon.

Police notified the news media, seeking to reach the owner of the snake, or anyone else who might have useful information.

In the interim, an officer volunteered to look after it until the Ontario Humane Society takes over the case.

An OPP spokesperson said Monday he's uncertain what the snake was being fed during its temporary time in custody.

Late Tuesday, police issued an update stating the reptile's owner had been located.

However, no details were immediately made available.
