THUNDER BAY – The Community Economic Development Commission is on the hunt for a new chief executive officer.

The organization is an arm’s length agency put in place by the City of Thunder Bay to help with business development, business retention and expansion, entrepreneurial support, opportunity promotion and the collection and assessment of key business data.

Doug Murray, a former executive at Resolute Forest Products, is the current CEO. He took the CEDC reins in August 2013.

The CEDC also oversees Tourism Thunder Bay.

The job posting states the new CEO will possess at minimum a bachelor’s degree and have experience in strategic and operational planning, operational, financial and performance management, human resources leadership and have professional and community relationships.

The successful candidate will be expected to be the external voice of the CEDC and work closely with both the board of directors and staff to establish and implement an “inspiring but practical long-term vision based on the organization’s strategic goals.”

The deadline to apply is Sept. 20.

TB Newswatch has reached out to the CEDC for comment, but have not as yet had a response.
