Four candidates step forward for vacant NAN seat

Four candidates have stepped forward seeking to fill the Nishnawbe-Aski Nation's vacant Deputy Grand Chief position. The post opened following the departure of former deputy Grand Chief Terry Waboose.

Four candidates have stepped forward seeking to fill the Nishnawbe-Aski Nation's vacant Deputy Grand Chief position. 

The post opened following the departure of former deputy Grand Chief Terry Waboose. 

Those vying for the position are Darius Ferris and Raymond Ferris, both of the Constance Lake First Nation, Solomon Mamakwa from Kingfisher Lake and Jason Smallboy from the Moose Cree First Nation. 

Chiefs from NAN's 49-communities will vote on a replacement Aug. 10 at the 35th annual Keewaywin Conference, which is being held on the Taykaw Tagamou Nation.
