THUNDER BAY -- NDP Leader Andrea Horwath will not be coming to Thunder Bay this week after all, after an announcement she had tested positive for COVID-19.

The official Opposition leader when the legislature was dissolved, Horwath didn't rule out rearranging things to pay a visit to Thunder Bay later in the campaign, which wraps up on election day on June 2.

Like so many others over the last couple years, I tested positive for COVID-19 this morning. We’ve been doing our best to keep everyone safe, and I’ll keep doing that by staying in isolation," Horwath said in a statement released on Thursday morning to media.

"Over the next few days, we were scheduled to go to Sault Ste. Marie, Thunder Bay, Kenora, Sandy Lake First Nation and North Bay — and I was really looking forward to it. We’ll have to make some adjustments, but I’ll continue to connect with people however I can."

Green Party Leader Mike Schreiner also tested positive for COVID-19.

Liberal Leader Steven Del Duca is expected to be in Thunder Bay on Sunday.
