Missing Aboriginal woman's remains found in Mishkeegogamang First Nation

Ontario Provincial Police say they’ve located the remains of a missing First Nations woman last seen on Nov. 8, 2015 on Highway 599 south of Pickle Lake.

Police say a bone recovered on July 2 in Mishkeegogamang First Nation was positively identified by the office of the chief coroner and foresnsic pathology service in Toronto as belonging to Charnelle Masakeyash.

The search intensified after the discovery of the bone and more remains were found and also positively identified as the missing woman.

While the search for Masakeyash has been concluded, the OPP says they are continuing their investigation into her death and are asking anyone with information concerning it to come forward by calling 1-888-310-1122 or anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
