Paras, Aiello to run for council (2 photos)

At-large race starting to get congested, with nine officially registered or having announced intentions to run.

THUNDER BAY – A well-known Thunder Bay entrepreneur is jumping into the at-large councillor race.

Lori Paras announced her plans to run on Wednesday in a release issued to local media, saying in addition to supporting business in the city, she has a strong passion for social issues and causes, which is the reason she’s decided to put her name forward.

Currently there are eight names in the at-large competition, including Paras, Diane Armstrong, Kim Ducharme, Trevor Giertuga, Chris Kumpholz, Derek Lankinen, Tracey MacKinnon and incumbent Aldo Ruberto.

Schreiber mayor Mark Figliomeni on Monday announced his intention to enter the race.

Earlier this week the McIntyre race also grew, with Albert Aiello, executive director with the Boys and Girls Club of Thunder Bay, joining Wesley Ramage on the ballot.
