Suspect tried to open cash register and threatened staff with a weapon before fleeing.

THUNDER BAY -- Police are searching for a male suspect who tried to rob a Court Street bakery.

Thunder Bay police received reports of a robbery at Donato's Bakery just before 10 p.m. on March 14.

Police say a man entered the bakery and was unsuccessful in his bid to open the cash register. The suspect then threatened staff with a weapon before fleeing the scene.

The male suspect, who is described as a Caucasian male in his 20s ranging from five-foot-10 to six feet with a very thin build, was last seen running westbound in the laneway on the south side of Bay Street. The suspect was wearing a black outfit at the time of the incident, which included running pants, a hoodie with the hood up and a balaclava covering his nose and mouth.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
