THUNDER BAY -- Police say 17-year-old Tammy Keeash has been identified as the body found on Sunday in Neebing-McIntyre Floodway.

Police on Tuesday released a photo of the teenager and are asking for the public’s assistance with information regarding her activities over the weekend.

She was last seen on Saturday, May 6 on the 300 block of North Edward Street.

Anyone who may have seen her from that time until her body was located at 9 p.m. on Sunday, May 7 is asked to call the police at 684-1200.

Investigators are awaiting the results of the post-mortem which is scheduled for May 10 in Thunder Bay.

This investigation is ongoing.

Keeash's death comes less than a year after recommendations were made after an inquest into the death of seven Indigenous students in Thunder Bay between 2001 and 2011.

This is a developing story and will be updated.
