ST. CATHARINES, Ont. – An ugly third quarter got the best of the Lakehead Thunderwolves women’s basketball team on Friday night.

The Wolves were outscored 24-6 in the fateful frame and went down to a 68-51 defeat at the hands of the host Brock Badgers.

Lakehead trailed by just one at the half.

Nikki Ylagan, who made four three-pointers, led the way offensively for the Thunderwolves with 14 point. Sofia Lluch finished with 13.

The Badgers had a trio of players in double digits, led by perennial OUA all-star Melissa Tatti’s 18.

Brock remains atop the OUA Central at 5-1, while Lakehead dropped its second in a row and sits at 1-6, fifth in the division.

The two teams tip off again on Saturday night.
