ST. CATHARINES, Ont. – A 2-1 lead after 20 minutes didn’t last long.

The first-place Brock Badgers (17-5-20responded with five unanswered goals the rest of the way and completed the weekend sweep, knocking off the sinking Lakehead Thunderwolves 6-2 on Saturday afternoon, further endangering LU’s shot at the OUA men’s hockey post-season.

Dylan Butler scored both of Lakehead’s goals, opening the scoring on Brock’s Logan Thompson 27 seconds after the opening puck drop.

He added his second of the afternoon at the 13:27 mark, five minutes after Skylar Pacheco had evened the score.

The second and third were all Badgers, at least on the score sheet.

Brody Silk tied the game two minutes into the middle frame and Brock’s Ayden MacDonald, who also had a pair of assists, put No. 8 Brock in front for good at 16:14. Frank Pucci added another tally before the period came to a close and Ethan Price and Adam Berg finished the scoring off in the third.

Devin Green was victimized six times on 36 shots to take the loss, which dropped Lakehead to 10-13-1, tied with Waterloo for eighth place. The top eight teams in each conference make the OUA playoffs.

Lakehead returns home next weekend for a pair against Guelph (9-10-4) and finish the regular season off in two weeks on the road against Western (14-9-1).
