Scott Dobben and Matt Caria scored third period goals on Saturday night, dashing any dreams the host Brock Badgers had at being double giant killers this weekend.
The Badgers, fresh off a thrilling 6-5 win over Western the night before, managed but a single goal against the normally soft Lakehead Thunderwolves defence, a Ryan Stephenson effort with 1:28 to go in regulation.
The 2-1 win pulled Lakehead (14-5-2) into a third-place tie with the Laurier Golden Hawks, who the Wolves will meet on Sunday to wrap up their weekend on the road.
In other OUA action on Saturday, Western beat UOIT 4-1, Ryerson crushed RMC 8-3, Queen’s doubled Nipissing 6-3, Waterloo beat Guelph 3-1 and York edged Windsor 3-2.
