DES MOINE, Iowa – The Thunder Bay Chill’s playoff hopes took a major hit on Thursday night.
The Chill were blanked 3-0 on the road by Heartland Division champion Des Moines, meaning they’ll have to win out to grab a post-season berth.
Thunder Bay, who fell to 6-4-2, trail Kaw Valley FC (7-3-4) by five points with two games remaining, a rematch against the Menace and a season finale against expansion Green Bay.
Nicolas Perea, Ignacio Goya de Anca and Mario Mastrangelo scored for Des Moines, who got yet another clean sheet from keeper Jordan Bell.
The two teams complete their four-game schedule on Sunday afternoon in Des Moines. Anything less than a win for the Chill will end their playoff chances.
