THUNDER BAY – The high school football schedule is set.
The St. Patrick Saints and the Hammarskjold Vikings will kick the senior boys season off at 5 p.m. next Friday, followed by the defending champion St. Ignatius Falcons taking on the Westgate Tigers at 7 p.m.
The senior circuit will be down to four teams in 2019, with the Superior Collegiate Gryphons dropping out after an 0-6 season last fall, the team scoring just 14 points the entire campaign.
The four-team junior football season begins on Thursday at 5 p.m., with the reigning champion St. Patrick Saints starting their title defence against the Hammarskjold Vikings. The St. Ignatius Falcons, winners of six straight titles before losing in last year’s final, will play Westgate.
Teams will play six games in each league, with all four teams making the postseason.
The senior champion will represent the city at the OFSAA championships in November.
