The Baltimore basketball pipeline continues to land basketball prospects at Lakehead University.

On Friday the team announced the signing of post player Kemp McRae, a 2009 graduate of Frederick Douglass High School.

McRae, expected to come off the bench in his rookie CIS season, follows in the footsteps Lakehead’s all-time scoring leader Kiraan Posey, who escaped life on the mean streets of Baltimore to stage a stellar five-year career in Thunder Bay.
McRae, who spent last season in the workforce, said it’s a dream come true to play university basketball.

"I’m thrilled to have this opportunity to play for Lakehead and look forward to settling into my new environment – helping coach (Scott) Morrison and the team any way I can," McRae said in a release issued by the school’s athletic department.

The team also announced the arrival of Toronto’s Akeem Isaac, who spent the past two years developing his game south of the border.

Described as an athletic guard with a defensive touch, he’s also great at moving the ball up the floor, kick-starting the offence.

He’s excited to find a long-term home, he said.

"I can already tell Lakehead’s coaching staff and veteran players are dedicated to winning and being the best they can be," Isaac said.

The duo join Pictou, N.S.’s Ben Johnson, via New York’s Saint Rose College, and Detroit’s Venzal Russell in the Wolves 2010 recruiting class.
