THUNDER BAY – The Lakehead women let one slip away on Saturday night.

Up nine to start the final quarter at home against the Laurier Golden Hawks, the T-Wolves were outscored 21-9 in the final period and were edged 58-55.

Brianna Iannazzo won it for Laurier at the free-throw line, hitting three of four in the final 24 seconds to deliver the win.

She’d earlier drawn the Golden Hawks even with a three-pointer with 3:06 to play in regulation.

Sofia Lluch scored 17 off the bench for Lakehead, who had another awful night shooting, hitting just 22 of 77 shots fired up.

Lily Gruber-Schulz was the only other Lakehead player in double digits, finishing with 10 points and six rebounds.

Iannazzo led all scorers with 21.

The loss drops Lakehead to 1-5 on the season. Laurier evened its record at 3-3 with the win. Lakehead takes on Brock on the road next weekend, followed by a visit to the nation’s capital and games against Ottawa and Carleton.

Their next home game is Nov. 29 against York.
