WATERLOO, Ont. – Leashja Grant jumped back on the double-double train as the Lakehead Thunderwolves captured their third straight OUA women’s basketball contest.
Grant scored 18 points and grabbed 10 rebounds before being retired for the night, leading the Wolves to a 69-45 road victory over the Waterloo Warriors. With the win LU improved to 15-4, leaving them a game behind McMaster in the race for the OUA West title, with five games to go.
The Thunderwolves were two games up on Brock heading into Friday’s action. Karissa Kajorinne had 14 for Lakehead and rookie guard Sofia Lluch added 13 to the cause.
The Wolves led 35-21 at the half and didn’t lose a quarter on the night.
Megan Carr topped all Waterloo scorers with eight.
The two teams meet again at noon on Saturday.
