Wolves slammed by McGill

THUNDER BAY – A second-period defensive collapse on Friday night sent the Lakehead Thunderwolves to their second straight defeat.

It wasn’t pretty.

The host McGill Redmen rolled off seven unanswered goals in the second and third periods and routed the Wolves (1-2-0) 8-1 in the first of two the teams will play this weekend in Montreal.

Christophe Lalonde led the way for McGill, scoring twice and adding an assists. Single goals went to Jordan Fournier, Jasmin Boutet, Nicholas Brouillard, Jerome Verrier, Nicolas Poulin and Dominic Talbot-Tassi.

Caleb Boman scored LU’s lone goal, evening the score at 1-1 at the 3:28 mark of the second.

Starting goalie Nic Renyard was yanked after two periods, giving up six goals on 31 shots. Devin Green took over in the third stopping 16 of 18 shots he faced.

McGill improved to 3-1-1.
