THUNDER BAY – The Lakehead Thunderwolves snapped a nine-game losing streak with a statement win over the visiting Windsor Lancers.

The two teams, who fought for OUA West supremacy during LU coach Ryan Thomson’s playing days, are fighting to stay out of the basement this season.

If Friday night’s 90-57 win is any indication, the Thunderwolves have nothing to fear.

The Wolves got a 49-point effort off their bench, led by 16 at the half and 29 after three to improve to 3-10 on the season, just a game out of the sixth and final playoff spot in the conference.

Davarius Wright led the way with 14 points and rookie Jared Kreiner scored a career-high 12 points to help power the win.

Thomas Kennedy led the Lancers (3-10) with 13 points. It was Windsor’s fourth straight defeat.

The two teams meet again on Saturday night at the C.J. Sanders Fieldhouse. Tip-off is 8 p.m.
