Police busted what they believe is a small grow-op Thursday.

OPP in Marathon were forced to use a spike belt Wednesday to halt a fleeing vehicle. The incident occurred after police received reports of a pickup truck leaving a Marathon gas station without paying for fuel.

Police charged five people with possession of drugs worth more than $30,000. Officers from the OPP’s drug unit and Red Lake detachment charged five people after executing a search warrant Tuesday. Two of the suspects charged are from Red Lake.

An early morning two-alarm fire has completely destroyed a building on the city’s southside. Firefighters noticed the fire on Simpson and Miles Streets shortly after 3 a.m. when responding to a vandalism call across the street.
