City police are investigating a morning crash that involved at least six vehicles Wednesday morning.

Thunder Bay Police Service officers are at the corner of Harbour Expressway and Golf Links Road.

Police say they believe one of the drivers involved in the crash fled the scene before police arrived.

Police are asking people to drive with extreme caution as extreme cold weather has led to very slippery conditions throughout the city.

4 Man shoots at neighbour’s home after argument about dog
Police say they’ve arrested a man who allegedly shot at a neighbour’s home following an argument about a dog.

Thunder Bay detachment OPP officials say the incident took place on Saturday, Feb. 21, at a Gorham Township home. At about 7 p.m. a man approached the home to talk about an issue concerning a dog.

After a brief discussion, the man verbally threatened the dog’s owner. The man then went to his vehicle in the driveway and retrieved what was believed by the homeowner to be a handgun.

The man then began shooting at the home.

Investigation later revealed the handgun involved was an air pistol. There were no injuries reported.

3 Hospital President and CEO stepping down

Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre CEO Andree Robichaud has tendered her resignation.

A teary-eyed Robichaud made the announcement Wednesday, saying she’ll officially leave the job she’s held for the past five years in mid-June.

She’ll also step down as acting CEO of the Thunder Bay Regional Regional Research Insititute, leaving for greener pastures in the Toronto area where Robichaud will assume the role of president and CEO of the Rouge Valley Health System.

Hospital officials say they’re hoping to have an interim CEO in place as early as next week, indicating they’re already in discussions with an unnamed candidate. A permanent replacement is expected to take at least six months to put in place.

Robichaud says she’ll depart with mixed emotions.

2 Mother, young girl injured in violent incident at James Street home
City police continue to investigate a domestic violence case that sent three people, including a young girl, to hospital with serious injuries.

Thunder Bay Police Service officers responded to a 911 call, which came from a James Street South home just before 3 a.m. Officers arrived at the scene and discovered “multiple victims of violence.”Police say officers provided first aid to a 29-year-old woman and her seven-year-old daughter who had suffered serious injuries.

A baby boy was also discovered unharmed in a bedroom. He is now in the care of an agency.

1 Two dead in fatal Oliver Road crash

Two people have died as a result of a Friday night crash on Oliver Road.

A man and woman, both 22, died at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre from injuries suffered in a two-vehicle crash involving a sedan and an SUV that happened at about 9 p.m. in the Mapleward Road area. Police say it appears one of the drivers lost control of their vehicle.

The two were occupants of the sedan and were rushed to hospital after the collision with what police initially described as “critical injuries” while a third person, a 62-year-old woman who was in the SUV, suffered what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries.
