ONTARIO: Police helicopter catches impaired arrest on video

A caller tipped police off

NEWMARKET - Police in York Region have posted video to YouTube after a police helicopter's camera caught an impaired driving arrest.

The video shows a vehicle pull into a driveway. An officer can then be seen arresting an unsteady man.

Police say they had been tipped off by a caller who spotted a suspect at a gas station staggering and falling back into his vehicle before driving off without actually getting any gas. The caller then witnessed the vehicle nearly striking another vehicle and a guardrail on Highway 404.

Police say the man they arrested was taken back to headquarters for a breath test, where he blew nearly three times the legal limit of alcohol. He was charged with impaired operation and 80 plus.
