2017 Land Rover Discovery: So Long, LR4

The square-shaped, midsize LR4 SUV has finally retired, leaving its spot in the English brand’s line-up for a brand-new generation of the Discovery. That’s the name the vehicle has always been called around the world except North America.

The square-shaped, midsize LR4 SUV has finally retired, leaving its spot in the English brand’s line-up for a brand-new generation of the Discovery. That’s the name the vehicle has always been called around the world except North America.

The Discovery boasts much more modern styling, in line with the sleek look of the brand’s other products. It has lost nothing of its off-road capabilities, thanks to its all-wheel drivetrain, its generous ground clearance, the articulation of its suspension as well as its Terrain Response 2 control system, which offers various driver-selectable settings based on road conditions.

Under the hood, the 2017 Land Rover Discovery will offer a supercharged, 3.0-litre V6 that develops 340 horsepower, or a 3.0-litre, turbo-diesel V6 that belts out 258 hp. In both cases, towing capacity reaches 3500 kilograms. In addition, its cockpit presents all the latest innovative technologies. The new Discovery is on sale starting from $61,500 before freight and delivery charges.
