Here is the latest iteration of Germany's craziest midsize sedan, the Mercedes-AMG E 63 and its even more-powerful variant, the E 63 S.

We'll start with the important bit: the E 63 S is fitted with a twin-turbo, 4.0-litre V8 producing 603 horsepower, or 62 more than last year. In the ''regular'' E 63, this same engine generates 563 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of torque.

Thanks to an all-wheel drive setup and a nine-speed automatic transmission, the S scoots from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.3 seconds and can hit 300 km/h. You read that right: the four-door luxury sedan can reach 100 clicks roughly as quickly as a Nissan GT-R.

The pneumatic suspension is reworked for track duty: according to the manufacturer, they got more camber angle out of it. As we previously mentioned, this car will feature a Drift Mode; however, it won't simply be a marketing gimmick. This mode deactivates the traction control and prevents the front axle from connecting, which effectively makes the car rear-wheel drive.

Visually, the sedan features an agressive body kit, widened fenders and a front fascia inspired by fighter planes (we're not joking, it's literally what they wrote in the press release!).

The car will be shown in the flesh at the Los Angeles Auto Show.
