Northern Waterworks Inc. provides premium water/wastewater operations to Municipal, First Nation, and corporate clients. We are a high growth company expanding rapidly throughout Ontario, now with divisions in Northwestern Ontario, Northeastern Ontario, and Southern Ontario.

The Water / Wastewater Operations Manager is responsible for the water treatment plant(s) and water distribution system(s) in order to ensure that residents have safe and clean water, in accordance with Federal, Provincial, and Municipal legislation, policies, and standards. They are also responsible for the wastewater treatment plant(s) and wastewater collection system(s), to ensure the collection and treatment of wastewater to produce effluent that will not harm the environment and receive waters.

Location: Ignace or Atikokan
Permanent Full Time
40-hour work week

Knowledge
• Minimum educational requirement: Post-Secondary Diploma
• Possession of, or eligibility to obtain, relevant water/wastewater operator certifications as required for the role of overall responsible operator
• Valid G class driver’s license
• Comprehensive knowledge and experience with the Drinking Water Quality Management System (DWQMS)
• Proficiency in water and wastewater sampling and testing methodologies
• Familiarity with inspection protocols
• Experience in building maintenance
• Intermediate understanding of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and heating systems

Skills
• Demonstrated leadership and team management abilities
• Advanced mechanical aptitude
• Proven experience in the operation and maintenance of water and wastewater equipment and systems
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
• Sound decision-making skills
• Effective verbal communication and team-building expertise
• Proficient public relations and public speaking skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to learn additional software platforms

Responsibilities
• Oversee the maintenance and operation of water treatment systems
• Operate and maintain filtering, chemical, and biological treatment processes
• Inspect, service, and repair components within treatment plants, including water intakes, pipelines, storage vessels, chemical treatment apparatus, control systems, wastewater lift stations, circulation pumps, boilers, heat exchangers, and valves
• Ensure a reliable water supply for both human consumption and firefighting purposes
• Prepare work orders for servicing and repairs
• Conduct routine inspections of physical facilities
• Perform inspections of mechanical, electrical, and other building infrastructure and systems
• Support Senior Managers in the preparation of budgets and financial reports related to water/wastewater treatment operations
• Compile and submit reports to governmental agencies, departments, and relevant organizations as required

Working Conditions
• Ability to lift weights up to 50 lbs
• Willingness to undertake long-distance driving as necessary
• Work environment includes both indoor and outdoor settings
