Our Financial Counselling Program is dedicated to helping individuals and families navigate economic challenges and foster financial well-being. Using strength-based, evidence-informed, and trauma-informed approaches, our Financial Health Counsellors empower people to gain confidence to address financial challenges and build financial resilience.
Specialized Support for Survivors of Gender Based Violence
We are currently seeking a qualified individual to work closely with survivors of gender-based violence and their families, prioritizing immediate economic safety while laying the foundation for financial independence. Services include:
• Reducing vulnerability to economic abuse
• Establishing urgent financial supports during crises
• Creating pathways to rebuild and sustain economic self-sufficiency
Thunder Bay Counselling is committed to supporting the economic recovery and empowerment of those most affected by financial hardship and abuse
Qualifications
• A degree in a social science, preferably social work
• Experience working with survivors of gender-based violence
• Experience working with people from marginalized and diverse communities, including individuals who have experienced trauma
• Proficiency in building strong and effective relationships and partnerships
• Strong presentation and public speaking skills
• Skilled in creating and utilizing educational materials and resources
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to travel locally and within the District of Thunder Bay
• Demonstrated understanding of the correlation between financial health and gender-based violence including economic abuse
• Understanding of financial services and systems would be an asset
