Landscape Construction Assistant (Intern) – 52 week contract
Eligibility Requirement – NOHFC Indigenous Workforce Development Program
This position is proudly funded through the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation’s (NOHFC) Indigenous Workforce Development Program.
To be considered applicants MUST meet the eligibility requirements of the program, which include the following:
• Candidate for this position must identify as an indigenous person, including First Nation, Metis or Inuit.
• Candidate must be a new entrant into the workforce, are transitioning to a new career, or the unemployed or underemployed who are entering a new field.
• Candidate must have not previously participated in an NOHFC funded internship in the 2020 Mandate.
• Candidate must be 18 years of age or older.
• Candidate must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
• Once hired, the candidate must reside in the Northern Ontario community in which they are employed

Contract: 52 weeks
Pay: $25/hour
Expected Hours: 40 hours/week
Schedule: Monday to Thursday with the occasional Friday
Work Location: Sault Ste. Marie and area (In Person)

Position Overview:
PAC Group is seeking a highly motivated Landscape Construction Assistant to join our team as an intern. The position offers hands-on support in areas such as site preparation, landscape design implementation, equipment operation and the application of sustainable practices, all while adhering to safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities:
As a Landscape Construction Assistant, you will:
• Assist in site preparation and plant installation, helping to transform outdoor spaces.
• Support hardscaping tasks, including laying pavers, constructing retaining walls, and other structural elements.
• Operate landscape maintenance equipment, ensuring efficient and safe equipment usage.
• Help enforce safety protocols on-site, maintaining a safe working environment for yourself and the team.
• Contribute to sustainable landscaping practices, promoting eco-friendly solutions in landscape construction.
• Maintain tools and equipment, ensuring everything is in good working order.
• Assist in the upkeep of outdoor spaces to ensure project specifications are met, contributing to the final delivery of the landscape design.

Qualifications:
• AR or DZ Driver’s License (mandatory)
• Clean Driver’s Abstract
• Clear Criminal Record
• Experience in hardscaping or landscape construction is highly preferred
• Passion for working outdoors and in landscape construction
• Strong attention to detail, reliable and dependable with a positive attitude
• Ability to work well as part of a team and take direction from supervisor and fellow employees
